Seven Labour MPs, including John McDonnell, have been suspended for six months after voting against the government on an amendment to scrap the two-child benefit cap. The cap, which prevents parents from claiming Universal Credit or child tax credit for more than two children, remains a contentious issue, with suspended MPs advocating for its removal to alleviate child poverty.
